IoT cloud, mobile apps and back-end for connected devices
Picodev, a design office in Aix-en-Provence, develops the server side and the applications of your connected devices: data collection and storage, device management, mobile apps, web access. The device, the app and the servers are designed together, with consistent protocols from end to end.

What we do
Back-end
The back-end receives and stores the data sent by the devices, manages devices and user accounts, and makes the data available to the apps. We design it at the same time as the firmware, so that both speak the same protocol from the start.
Mobile apps
The app is used to configure the device, view its data and often update it. We develop native Android apps or cross-platform Android and iOS apps with React Native, depending on your users and your teams.
Web access to the data
For your customers or your internal teams, a website gives access to the devices' data: tables, history, alerts, fleet administration.
End-to-end protocols
We define the exchanges between the device, the app and the servers. A protocol that is consistent end to end avoids fragile conversions and makes each part easier to evolve.
Test and debugging apps
During development, a test app validates the device without waiting for the final app. We build one when the project calls for it, and you keep it afterwards for diagnostics.
Business features
Booking, payment, alerts: we integrate the features specific to your service, such as starting a vehicle over Bluetooth from the app.
When to call on us
- Your device exists and it lacks the app or the servers.
- You want the device, the app and the servers designed by the same team.
- Your team must take over the app or the back-end, and needs documented code.
- You need to add a business feature to an existing service.
Technologies
Android, Kotlin, React Native, Java, Node.js, Python, Bluetooth Low Energy.
What you receive
- The source code of the apps and the back-end.
- The documentation of the protocols and interfaces.
- The deployment procedure.
How we work
- Scoping: user journeys and data to collect.
- Architecture of the exchanges between the device, the app and the servers.
- Development in releases, tested with the real device.
- Go-live and documentation, then handover to your teams if you wish.

Before you entrust us with your project.
Can you build only the app, or only the server?
Yes. We also work on a single part, together with the team that develops the rest.
Can our teams take over the code afterwards?
Yes. One of our customers took the mobile app and the servers in-house, while we carried on with the embedded software.
Which mobile platforms do you work on?
Native Android, or a cross-platform Android and iOS app with React Native, depending on the need.
Let's talk about your connected device.
